NECK COLLAR/HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT DEVICE/SYSTEM A head and neck restraint device/system is mandatory for any vehicle running 200 mph or faster. Neck collar meeting SFI Spec 3.3 mandatory for all other vehicles. At all times that the driver is in the race vehicle, from the ready line until the vehicle is on the return road, driver must properly utilize an SFI-approved head and neck restraint device/system, including connecting the helmet as required for full functionality of the device. The device/system must meet SFI Spec 38.1 and must display a valid SFI label. The head and neck restraint device/system, when connected, must conform to the manufacturer’s mounting instructions, and it must be configured, maintained, and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. See General Regulations 10:8.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2012, all drivers in this class will be required to wear a head and neck restraint device/system meeting SFI Spec 38.1.

The NHRA recently announced new mandatory regulations regarding 38.1 Head & Neck Retraint Systems.
If your a Super Gas, Super Comp, Comp, Top Sportman racer, you’ll need one of these next year, Pro Gas racers, get ready, this will get to us too. Luckily Safety Solutions has been doing their homework and has developed the EZ Slide Tether system. The EZ Slide allows you to turn your head while keeping you safe. It meets all 38.1 Specs and can be retrofitted onto your existing Hybrid Pro or Pro Rage restraint.
The Hybrid Pro system is the safest system on the market. The science speaks for itself. The Hybrid Pro is comfortable too. It disappears behind you in the seat. It doesn’t press on your shoulders when the seat belts are on & now, with the EZ Slide, you can keep an eye on the competition. I’m an authorized Safety Solutions Dealer and I can get you fitted and into one of these new systems before your next test session.
Don’t wait till the last minute, as with any new piece of equipment, you’ll want to put this on early & often during the coming months of testing to get used to it and let it become part of your program. Practice Practice Practice.
